Benefits of research: The significance of this study lies in the necessity for careful consideration of the linguistic instruments of appeal for effective political discourse in the media. Its findings contribute to the formation of concepts for the functions of the appeal, the choice of strategies of influencing the audience, and the implementation of this knowledge in linguistics, media, social media, and machine learning technologies.
Brief description of the study: The article examines the linguistic devices of the appeal applied in English-language political propaganda discourse, using British and American media as examples. It examines the functional and semantic properties of appeals, their categorization, including both voluntary and involuntary orders, and the features of their implementation in different forms of propaganda: white, gray, and black. Extra attention is devoted to the communicative function of the relation between the text and the audience, and to the potential for appeals in influencing the formation of public opinion. The conclusions of the article can be applied in the analysis of persuasive speech, research in communication strategies, and in the development of information promotion techniques in mass media, social media, and digital technologies.
